As more diners dote over their dogs, a new franchise concept continues to expand to meet their needs. Dallas-based MUTTS Canine Cantina is an urban oasis for dogs and their own- ers, complete with a fully fenced-in dog park, a walk-up and full-service bar offer- ing local craft beer and other drinks, and a separate patio with concession-style food like the MUTTS Original Chicken Sandwich, burgers, milkshakes, and even a "doggie menu" for four-legged pa- trons. Locations also feature free Wi-Fi, bark rangers, staff members who provide water and keep the park tidy, and a dog washing area. The Sun Belt states represent the company's initial target for expansion. Since MUTTS opened its gates, the company has received more than 60 inquiries from potential franchisees. The MUTTS concept, created in 2013 by Kyle Noonan and Josh Sepkowitz of FreeRange Concepts, has been targeting potential franchisees around the country, particu- larly developers with mixed-use projects and odd-shaped or undevelopable tract. Other turnkey aspects include negotiated contracts with national vendors, including CBRE for real estate, TriMark USA for kitchen equipment, Sysco for food, Starpower AV, Fastsigns, Ima/Waldman Insurance, and various IT vendors for POS, surveillance, labor, and accounting.
